This document presents business case of an existing company called Cedar. This Company does not have project management office, despite the wide range of the product and services that the company provides. This document presents a solution of this problem by establishing project management office for this company and it will discuss PMO,Structure, Roles & Responsibilities, Initial PMO Goals and Measures, and anticipated Costs and Expected Returns.

1.2Background

The Company is located in Canada with an ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and Illumina Propel certified fully-integrated Canadian biotechnology company focusing on developing products for sample collection, sample preparation and sample detection, as well as providing comprehensive research services to the scientific community.

Cedar does not have Project Management Office to coordinate work between departments. The company lacks proper planning and management for their projects which leads to low productivity. In addition to that, the Company has serious problem in communication between different departments.

1.3Problem Statement

Initiating PMO for a company that never has a PMO which may need total restructure of organization and relation between departments.

1.4 Assumptions

Assumption for PMO:

The company does not have PMO. As per the below challenges Cedar is in need to initiate PMO to improve productivity and communication between its departments to be able to compete in market.
