The rudder of an aircraft is usually found at the tail and is responsible for allowing the pilot to control the yaw about the vertical axis. Figure 2 shows a typical rear setup of a small aircraft, with the rudder coloured in gold. During maintenance, one way of mounting the rudder is to place one edge on a fixed pivot, whilst attaching the other edge on the end of an operational cable.
