You will be expected to keep a journal relating to your observations of marketing
activities which impact your daily interactions. You must make at least three (3) entries per
week for a period of five weeks = a total of fifteen (15) entries. The journal entries can include
intormation on purchase decisions you make, your observations of others, advertisements you
notice, etc. Each entry must relate the incident you observe to the concepts we are studying in
class; in other words, you must tie each entry to a marketing principle from our classroom
topics.
3 Ex
of an entry: On December 10th, a Rolex advertisement appeared on the back of a
sailing magazine which my neighbour subscribes to; although simple, the advertisement left
readers with a feeling of reliability, timelessness, and the consideration of unvesting in a
generational asset- one that literally lasts for a lifetime (this was my interpretation)- while a
Rolex is not required for sailing, its undertone suggests that the target market is high net worth
individuals that belong to an exclusive group of people (i.e., much disposable income is
required to maintain a sailboat)
