Case Study: URIDE Enterprise
Introduction and background
URIDE is a ride sharing company established recently to compete with Uber, Lift, and Maven. The company is based in Toronto and operates in major cities in Ontario and Quebec. If successful, the company has plans to expand to other provinces and territories. Praveena is an MBA graduate from the Toronto Metropolitan University. During her final semester, she presented her URIDE project to the class and has received excellent feedback from her instructor and peers. Now, as CEO of URIDE, she teamed up with a few of her class mates and founded URIDE in 2024.
Module 1: Registration
Her friend Sarah developed the URIDE app which has received a five-star rating because of its ease of use and great functionalities. Loretta is the Chief Architect of URIDE and is planning to develop a module to register customers as well as potential drivers. Customers will be enrolled with their phone number. Once the number has been validated, a customer ID is created and sent to the customer.
Basic personal information is requested as well as an optional credit card payment. Once the registration has been approved, the customer is automatically eligible for the discount program which entitled the customer to get a discount based on the number of rides transactions. In addition to the discount, the customer can accumulate loyalty points towards additional rewards like merchandise items.
As for the URIDE drivers, they are automatically enrolled in the rewards program. They accumulate points based on the charged amount before tax as the rate of 10 points for $1(rounded up). The same rate applies for the customer. If the customer is also a URIDE driver, then the rate is doubled. i.e.20 points for $1
