Part 1

1.-Broadly describe the concept of warehouse and distribution center. 2.-Indicate the procedure and the necessary requirements to manage the warehouses of a company, according to the distribution centers it has.

Part 2

Read the following case:

A company located in the city of Monterrey, N.L. is dedicated to the manufacture and commercialization of a product that has three main components:

Component A is extracted from mines located in the state of Nuevo Len and represents 25% of the product. Component B is obtained from the state of Oaxaca and represents 25% of the product. Component C is imported from Poland and represents 50% of the product. Because there is a free trade agreement between Mexico and the European Union, the company has established within its strategy that it wants to grow in that market, positioning the productive capacity it has in its plant, which is 500,000 units of the product. The company knows that there is a stable demand for its product in Europe and has decided to place nine strategic distribution centers that have the location to supply the 28 countries belonging to the European Union. If, after two years, the demand for the product exceeds its production capacity, the company will set up a production plant that supplies only those distribution centers with a volume of two million units.

Answer the following questions:

1.-Where would you locate the distribution centers to supply the European market? 2.-Which countries would supply with each distribution center? Justify the criteria taken. 3.-If the installation of the production plant is necessary, where would you locate it? Justify the decisions considering the supply of raw materials and the replenishment strategy of the distribution centers that they would take. 4.-What kind of considerations should the company take regarding the management of its inventory? List what would be the key points that you would consider. 5.-If the demand were proportional to the number of inhabitants of each country, would it change the decision of the location of the distribution centers that you proposed above? Find the population number of each country and develop a proposal based on it. 6.-What do you think would be the considerations that the company should take to plan its inventory requirements?

7.-At what times should you replenish your inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods in your warehouses?

Part 3

1.-Identify the components of customer service and performance indicators in logistics, describe them broadly. Answer the following questions:

2.-What is customer service? Name at least five companies that stand out for providing excellent customer service and briefly describe how they do it. 3.-What is the relationship of logistics with customer service? 4.-How is logistics related to marketing in relation to customer service? Mention three examples of companies that involve their logistics in their marketing or advertising, justify your examples. 5.-What repercussions does logistics have on the perception of a product or service by consumers? 6.-From your point of view as a consumer, what should be the main attributes in the service that a company must have for you to offer your loyalty? 7.-What are the elements that make up customer service? 8.-What is the balance of customer service in relation to returns on investment?

9.-It integrates the above information in a double entry table on the importance of customer service in the supply chain and the technological tools that the company uses to be favorably accepted by the consumer.
