Part 1: Energy types Describe a situation where energy changes through 3 different forms in your experience. The same energy should be transferred through all 3 different forms. It may be helpful to review all of the different energy types first, then think about situations where energy transforms from one to another. The above photo shows an empty spacesuit orbiting the Earth in 2006. As an experiment, the suit was fitted out with a few batteries and radio transmitter, and pushed away from the space station. It orbited for a few weeks before burning up in Earth's atmosphere. Describe the orbit of the suit--how it moves and why. What force pulls on the suit, and in what direction? What direction is the suit's velocity? Is it the same direction as the force, or perpendicular to the force? Why was the suit able to orbit for several weeks instead of immediately falling to the Earth through the atmosphere?
