Manage the training database identifying the professional development needs for employees; 3. Provide guidance to management and employees on the professional development plan; 4. Provide assistance in finding training; 5. Register employees in soft skill training. 6. Manage the process of evaluating the effectiveness of training; 7. Ensure records of staff development are maintained. Employee: 1. 2. 3. Complete all proper documentation including a course outline and submit to appropriate management level for assessment and approval; Coordinate course registration and travel arrangements; Demonstrate to his/her manager that the skills learned in the course are used in the workplace; Training must be approved by the appropriate management level in writing prior to the training commencing in order to be eligible for reimbursement of the course and material costs. Training done after normal work hours does not qualify the employee for overtime of hours worked, unless prior approval is granted in writing by the employee's manager. Course or Workshop Definition: A course or workshop is a training event of a short duration usually ranging from a few hours to a few days. Examples: In-person attendance at a three-day long training session or a four-hour online course which may or may not generate a certificate of completion. RESPONSIBILITY Managers are responsible for approving the employee's participation in an approved course or workshop and for ensuring the Request For Professional Development form is approved in a timely manner. Employees who will be participating in a course or workshop are responsible for submitting the Request For Professional Development in a timely manner, complete with all supporting information. PROCEDURE In advance of any registration or enrolment for a course or workshop employees are required to complete the Request For Professional Development form and obtain approval from their manager to attend. Employees who attend a course or workshop shall complete Section 2 of the Request For Professional Development form four (4) weeks following attendance at any course or workshop paid for by Cementation. Copies of the form may be provided to the employee's manager, for input. A final completed copy of the Request For Professional Development shall be filed in the employee's personnel file.
