part 1- The best team experience that I had was when I first began my career in the elevator trade with a small private company. After about 6 months of being a part person, I was offered the role of a service supervisor to manage 19 crews and handle all related information (had no prior experience). I took on this challenge and struggled for about 6 months to 1 year before I became proficient and effective at my position. During this struggle and learning opportunity, I was fortunate enough to have several individuals guiding and assisting me on the way. Both owners taught me to always have clear and transparent communication no matter what the situation was (good or bad). This transparency fostered respect and trust and gave me confidence and value in the decision-making process. For example, during our weekly meetings, I was given the task of designing the schedule and repairs and explaining which projects were prioritized over the others. Another reason why this experience was the best was the diversity and collaboration that I was surrounded with. We had individuals who had 20+ years of experience with electronics, individuals with 20+ years of mechanical experience, service specialists, teachers, accountants, and office an office manager. The diverse group (experience, age, background) gave me the ability to collaborate with different lines of business and have different perspectives on each situation. An example of collaboration and diversity in the workplace (along with inclusivity) was when I was dealing with a project (way above my knowledge) and was able to collaborate with several individuals to come up with an action plan to resolve the issue and to prevent the issue from occurring again. The last positive experience was the amount of recognition and celebrations that our leaders did to recognize the hard work. One example of this was I was putting in long hours and running the department well, so the owner decided to recognize my hard work by taking me on a trip to Las Vegas for the annual cigar convention and paying for the entire weekend. He stated that this was a thank you for all the hard work and dedication I have put into becoming an asset to the company.

As a manager, the two practices I feel are crucial are regular feedback and check-ins and diversity and inclusivity. Implementing regular feedback and check-ins will allow for open communication and that everyone has a say. This allows for me to address concerns or challenges before they get out of hand and provide recognition to appreciate individuals. Diversity and an inclusive workplace are essential for company growth and personal growth. Providing training, and showing empathy, and understanding, will foster a safe, valued, and respected workplace that will have long-term sustainability.

part 2- The best team experience I have been apart of is the current team I am working with now. I work for an higher learning company. In my position I work with my manger and my co-workers, we support the sales department. In my role I work with little supervision from my manger and I have to meet daily productivity deadlines. As a team we get information from the sales department to effect policy changes and so forth. There are close to 250 sales people and as a team we have to work together provided the same consisting information . As a team we get the same number of sales representative cases to review, we each work to come complete daily goals, and if someone finishes their part of the work first, we offer to help other co-worker to complete theirs until every one is done. The way my team is set up did not happen by accident or by chance, it was with my mangers intention to create positive non- completive , we work as a team collective environment. We each play a role in the work we complete individually and as a team. Manger uses each of our individual talents and encourages each to help someone if they don't know something i.e. tech issue. When we train we train as a group and try to come up with a unified answer in the data. AS it states in the video " a team is a unit of two or more people who work together regularly to share a goal or purpose". Also a team would also" be coached and have to take leadership positions". As example my manger coaches as individually on how we can improve a work and as a team on how we can do things better as a team. From the different projects we work on and taking on side projects we take on leadership roles. This the best team for me for several reasons, I work for a company that I believe in that is line with goals and the business ethics I respect. With team I work with, I feel respected , included, that I matter and my work matters. I feel I am on the same page and trust my co workers to complete theirs parts as well.
