Part 1: Your Initial Post For this discussion board, think of a movie you're familiar with that featured a romantic relationship. You may use any genre of movie for this discussion that provides an opportunity to critically think about relationships. In the past, students have used a variety of movie romances from Academy Award winning movies to classics to new releases and every genre from children's movies to art films to action movies to "chick flicks." 1. Title your post with the title of the movie you chose. 2. Explain the basic premise of the movie you chose in 2-3 sentences using original wording. You do not have to give a synopsis of the movie. 3. Think of three specific Interpersonal concepts explored during the last unit of Interpersonal Communication coursework that are depicted (either positively or negatively) in this movie. Examples: Proxemics, Stages of Relational Interaction, Pseudo-Listening, Halo Effect, Competing Style of Conflict, etc. Bold each concept. (Do not define the concept) 4. Write an example for each of the three concepts you thought about as it appeared in the movie relationship. For example, if Pseudo-Listening occurred in the movie relationship, you might write, "Pseudo-Listening occurred when the Emperor was listening to his female advisor. As the advisor was defending her actions, the Emperor immediately began pseudo-listening. He looks directly at her, but is not paying attention. While she's talking, her volume is quieted and the movie audience only hears the internal thoughts of the Emperor reacting to her weathered skin and food caught in her teeth. Surely, their one-way romance is really in peril now! When she finishes speaking, he has no idea what she's actually said." Part 2: Responding to Others Respond to two other students after reading their initial post. 1. Provide a definition for one of the Interpersonal concepts that the student explored. If a definition is already provided, then choose a different interpersonal concept. If all the concepts. are defined, then choose another student to respond to. 2. Reflect on the concept you defined and corresponding movie example provided by the student. Write about a time you witnessed this concept in a real life romantic relationship. The relationship can be one of your own, someone you know well or a celebrity couple. Be specific as you explain what you witnessed. 0 Part 1: Your Initial Post For this discussion board, think of a movie you're familiar with that featured a romantic relationship.
