Dividends, Dividend Payouts, Market Capitalization, and Institutional holdings by Industry. He heard that you're in college and
learning how to visualize data. He said he's always wondered whether firms with higher institutional investors pay more in dividends.
He asked you to provide him with a visualization that helps him see the relationship and any calculations that you can think of.
There are three parts to this problem. Use Excel to perform the following:
a. Format the data as a Table. Sort from smallest to largest institutional holdings. Insert a combination chart that shows
institutional holdings (line) and Total Dividends (bar). Add a trendline for the dividends. Be sure to put a proper heading, use a
secondary axis, and have a legend.
b. Use the r-squared formula to see if there is a relationship between Institutional Holdings (x) and Total Dividends (Y).
c. Discuss your results in the chart and the r-squared calculation.
