Part 2 Field Service Staff Turnover A regression study has been completed to determine what factors make a signicant impact on field service technician retention. Based on the input from HR Management we measured the impact that years of education, college GPA, and age at hiring date have on retaining field service technicians. Using all three factors together, education, GPA, and age, we did not find the collective data to have a significant statistical impact on retention; this is shown through the low R Squared value of 0.15. This insignificance of the collective data, all 3 factors, is backed up by a low adjusted R Square value, at 0.079 in this model. However, it was found that one of the factors is statistically signicant and ties directly to our ability to retain field service technicians. Age at hiring date has a P-value of 0.0376, meaning that there is a 96% correlation between age at date of hiring and retention for field technicians, this factor is statistically significant for retaining employees based upon the data collected and studied. While as an organization we cannot discriminate based upon the age of field technician applicants, it may be possible to require a minimum number of years of experience to increase the average age of new technicians that we are bringing on board. An experience requirement along with changes in recruitment techniques to target older applicants should have an impact on our retention trend and help increase the stability of employees staying with PLE for much longer periods of time.
