Part 2: Informational Interview Description: Once you have completed your observation, assemble some questions you can use to conduct an informational interview of a professional who works in the field you would like to pursue. Use the sample questions below to inform your inquiries, and feel free to develop one or two questions based on your observation that you would like to ask during the interview. The interview should not take more than one hour. You can interview the person in a modality that works best for both of you (face-to-face, remote/virtual, or via phone, but not through email). You should strive to use the best 4-5 questions from this list for your informational interview. 1. "I noticed that you have worked at company A and company B. How did your career path take you to this job with this company?" 2. What are the major components of your job on a daily basis?" 3. "What do you enjoy the most about the job?" 4. "What do you like least about your job?" 5. "How do you see this job changing in the next 3, 5, or 10 years?" 6. "If you could go back and do anything different on this career path, what would you do?" 7. "What kind of work samples should my portfolio (or resume) have?" 8. "Who else would you recommend that I speak with about this career?"
