Part a On 1 March 2020, the issued share capital of Xhosa Ltd consisted of 10 000 000 ordinary shares and 210 000 cumulative preference shares, convertible into ordinary shares at the option of Xhosa Ltd. A third of the preference shares were converted into ordinary shares on 1 December 2020 in the ratio of two preference shares for every one ordinary share. Assume that the profit of Xhosa Ltd for the year ended 28 February 2021 amounted to N$13 500 000 and that all preference dividends relating to 2021 were declared during 2021. There are no cumulative dividends in arrears at the start of the period. The annual dividend per preference share amounted to 16c.
