Saudi Arabia is the 3rd largest Oil Producing Country after USA and Russia. It produces oil as crude that requires refining before using as a fuel. You are intended to perform a simplified material balance of a plant that refined 100 barrel crude oil per day. Crude oil composition depends on the origin and the technology used in crude oil recovery. Actual refining process is complex and the product composition varies based on the crude oil type and operating conditions of the refining process. To facilitate the material balance calculation, the process has been simplified as follows: Consider that a typical crude oil (API Gravity = 25.0) contains 1 wt% gases (G), 15 wt% naphtha (N), 12 wt% kerosene (K), 30 wt% diesel (D), 35 wt% fuel oil (F), and the balanced residue (R).
