Add glass cover Drug blocks Wood Water Back brick Red brick Blue brigg Move the light up to a 90 angle by dragging it into position. 1. Place the different blocks listed in Table 1 under the light and record their final temperatures after 3 hours. Select white light as your light color. Table 1: Material and final temperature after 3 hours Material Final Temperature (C) Metal Wood Water Black brick White brick 2. Now select the red brick. First record its final temperature after 3 hours using white light. Now repeat the experiment using red light (see red arrow for selecting light color). Are the final temperatures the same? If not, why not? Think about reflection and absorption. 3. Now reselect white light. Place the Black brick under the light and now select "Add glass cover" (green arrow). What is the final temperature after 3 hours? How does it compare to when there was no glass cover? . Reset and replace the black block with the White brick keeping the glass cover in place. What is the final temperature after 3 hours? How does it compare to when there was no glass cover for the white block? 5 . Which block, white or black, gained more temperature with the glass cover in place? Explain this result. Hint: how are their emissivities different and what do we know about absorption and emission
