Part I: Research Journal - Magazine and Newspaper Articles 1. What database(s) did you use to locate your magazine and newspaper articles? I used the Masterfile database to conduct a search for a magazine article, and the News & Newspaper database to conduct a search for a newspaper article, so that I could find the magazine and newspaper articles that I needed. 2. What search terms did you use and how did you adjust your strategy based on results? (Include number of results for each search). What, if any, keywords or phrases did you add to your search menu based on the item records or content of the articles? In order to adapt my method, I performed a search using the phrases "oil industry trends," and then I looked at the results. When I searched for the magazine article, I received more than three million hits; thus, I refined my search by include the phrase "global." This brought the total of my findings down to 3,006. I modified my approach for the story in the newspaper to add the term "future," which led to the production of 32 results 3. List the titles of two articles that appeared to meet your research needs (one for magazine and one for newspaper). The title of the item that I decided to read from a magazine is "Five Trends that Could Change the Global Oil Industry," and the title of the article that I chose to read from a newspaper is "How Will OPEC Respond to Growing Investment in Renewable Energy?" 4. Why did you select these articles? I choose to utilize these articles for my research assignment because they highlight current developments in the oil sector as well as possible future shifts that might have an impact on the industry. 5. The article in the journal investigates five trends that have the potential to transform the global oil sector. These trends include changes in consumer behavior, increased investments in renewable energy, geopolitical and economic instability, technology advancements, and new environmental legislation. What search engine (or curated website) did you use to locate your resources? When I was looking for materials on the web, I utilized Google as my search engine. 2. What search terms did you use and how did you adjust your strategy based on results? Be sure to mention any advanced search terms you may have used. (include number of results for each search) In order to adapt my method, I performed a search using the keyword "oil industry trends," and then I looked at the results. After receiving more than 2.7 billion results from my search, I decided to reduce my findings further by include the term "future." Because of this, the total number of results I got was around 109 million. 3. This study includes an overview of the key participants in the industry, as well as a structural and economic analysis of the industry. 5.
