Part II: Blind Comparison Prep work: You should pick a particular source for daily horoscopes (perhaps the one that seemed most accurate or most verifiable from Part I). From this source you should record all twelve horoscopes for a recent date (such as the current day). Make up a document that contains all twelve predictions and with great care remove any indication about which horoscope is which. You should be left with twelve generic descriptions that you can put in a random order, if you wish. This "randomized" list should be included as part of your final activity report. Keep a separate document with the original predictions on it so you know which one goes with which sign. Data collection: Over the following two days you should find at least 18 people and ask them to pick which one of the 12 descriptions best describes their experiences on the date in question. To remove any temptation for them to try to find "their" sign among the list you should tell them that the list has been randomized (even if it hasn't). Record each person's birth date (or sun sign) and which of the twelve descriptions they chose. Try not to "contaminate your data" by letting your subjects see what others have chosen. Make sure to do y.our interviews within 2 days of the date your horoscopes refer to, so that people will still clearly recall the events of that day. If you want to be extra diligent about this, ask them to think about or describe their day before showing them the descriptions. This will jog their memory and give them something to compare the horoscopes to. Analysis: E.
