Part III Procedures Step 1: Go to the website: https://phet.colorado.eduIsims/cheerpj/motion-series/Iatest/motionm series.htmI then choose "Forces and Motion" . You are ready for the lab. Step 2: Click on the "Force Graphs'I tab at the top. Step 3: On the right side of the screen, there are several boxes. In the second box from the top (Friction), choose "Wood". Step 4: In the fifth box (Position) from the top on the right side of the screen, choose the object initial position to be 8.8 m . Step 5: In the sixth box (Choose and Object) from the top on the right side of the screen, choose "Small Crate". Record the mass m = 100 k? and ,u.., = 0.3 here: Mass of the crate m = k\"? Coefficient of kinetic friction ,u._, = Step 6: Below the crate, there are choices for "Pa rallel Forces". Choose \" 5mm: " to be 600.0 N. Record the horizontal components ofthe net force FS._,., x and the frictional force FFFi'E'Ei'F'Lx here: The horizontal component ofthe net force on the crate F331}; = N. The horizontal component of the frictional force on the crate FF,i._,.,i.,.__,'x = N. NotE: The data in "pa rallel Forces'l is the horizontal components ofthe forces. Step 7: On the bottom of the screen {green background), select "Velocity" and "Position". The values of velocity and position will show on the lower left boxes of the screen and the diagrams of velocity vs time and position vs time will show on the lower right side of the screen. Step 8: Click on the triangle and record the experiment. You then can playback to take data. Record the time, velocity, and position of the crate in Table 3.1. Note: Table 3 only provides 18 empty boxes for position from 8.80 m to 8.88 m. You can create your own tables to take more data. Table. 3.1 ax?) _ _ _ , I I I I I v(m/'?) _ I I I I I x(m) 8.80
