Procedure for Entry of Insurance Field
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to provide clear instruction on the entry of the insurance field during the electronic registration process. The insurance field is incredibly important to LiveWell as it directs the billing process and the billing process secures payment and income for LiveWell.
Instructions:
1. The insurance field is collected each time is registered by a patient access staff member. This includes outpatient, inpatient, emergency, daycare surgery, rehabilitation services, home care and hospice patients.
2. Steps
a. Kindly explain the purpose of the insurance card. It is important for the patient to understand that LiveWell handles all the billing needed for the service provided and that you are simply doing the job you are trained for in Patient Access.
b. The patient's insurance card is required.
c. Locate the insurance type on the card.
d. Tab to the insurance field on the registration screen. Pers-Guar is the default value in this field.
e. Enter a valid insurance type.
f. Press F6 to save. Continue with the registration process.
