PART OY:08b) Individual Assignment)
This assignment you get to create your own webpage. It can be about whatever (appropriate) topic you want. For example, it could be about your favourite TV show, book, movie, recipe, hobby or anything you are interested in. You can even make it about yourself.
It must include (AT LEAST) the following elements and styles:
A title
2 different types of headings (h1, h2, etc.)
2 paragraphs
2 images
1 must be an external picture (from another website)
1 local picture that you have uploaded
(follow these instructions on uploading files) This can be your me.jpg or another image
1 hyperlink
1 ordered list
1 unordered list
1 table
Must have a minimum of 2 rows and 2 columns
2 character entity references
At least one appropriate use of strong > and an appropriate use of em >
All document basics that were taught (DOCTYPE, head, etc...)
1 font family change (see this reference for web-safe fonts)
1 font size change
1 font colour change
2 uses of text properties other than family, size, or colour
1 background colour change (you may also use an image as the background)
1 div
1 span
3 different classes (make sure to use each at least once in the .html document)
4 unique uses of margins and paddings
1 link hover (you will lose marks if your link hover colour is the same colour as the regular link colour)
2 modified table properties
2 different borders
The above list is only the minimum. You add as much content and style as you wish. Marks will also be rewarded for the overall design of your webpage. This means your webpage should have:
fonts that are professional-looking and readable
An appropriate theme for the topic of the webpage you chose
Colours that work well together, have contrast, and don't hurt your eyes (try using a colour scheme website)
Undistorted images that are reasonably sized
Elements that appear to have a hierarchy (i.e. more important elements are larger or stand out more) and are placed in a logical order
Some form of separation between different sections (eg. whitespace, borders)
Overall uncluttered feeling (spacing properties will come in handy here)
We will also be taking off marks for readability - your .html and .css file must be organized so that it is easy for the user to read (use good whitespace and indentation in your text editor).
Save your file as your userid_A3.html (e.g. a2smith_A3.html) and upload it into the public_html folder of your uwaterloo account.
Follow the instructions under Course Information on uploading files using an SFTP client.
