They are starting with a bricks-and- mortar in-person store only but will want to promote the store and engage with potential customers on various social media platforms to get the word out about the new store. Beyond just a conventional web site, they will want to have discussion forums, virtual meet-the-author nights and regular social media posts about new arrivals to keep everyone informed about what they have in store. Eventually the store will have a multi-lingual e-commerce site where customers can browse and purchase these rare books on-line and have the books shipped anywhere in the world. To set up all the Management Information Systems, they are purchasing a Point-of- Sale (POS) system as the cash register to record each sale, and to set up customers with their own files so when they return, the store will have a complete customer purchase history on them. Pat would like to have a report on daily, weekly and monthly sales, broken down by genre of books. That will give Pat some insight into what is selling well, and what is not.
