Paul comes to an agency with many difficulties and anxieties, one of which is his antipathy toward interracial relationships. He expresses disappointment in his daughter and in himself as a father because of her intentions to enter into a longterm relationship with a man of another ethnicity. Paul has gone as far as threatening to disinherit her if she continues this relationship with this man. What this client does not know is that the social worker herself is in an interracial relationship. The therapist, Jill, says she is willing to work with him but discloses that she herself is in an interracial relationship. She asks Paul, "How would it be for you to work with me now that you know that?"
