Paul hires Jaswinder to design, build and finish his new office renovations, including building a beautiful reception area with state-of-the-art televisions that will allow visitors see all of the bridge projects that Paul's company has built, showcased on different televisions on the walls of the reception area. The contract also includes building a new lunch-room / games room for his employees, as well as new open-office work stations for all of this employees.
The contract was very simple: first the reception area was to be done, and then employee's work stations, and then the lunchroom/ games room. This is because Paul wanted to "WOW" his potential new clients and other visitors to his office as soon as possible, and thus potentially obtain new work for his company as soon as possible.
Jaswinder and her crew designed and built the reception area as planned, with one exception: the installed one large television on the wall instead of several smaller ones.
When it comes time to finalize the lunch room/ games room, Paul and Jaswinder get into an argument. Paul insists that fooz ball tables and a small basketball hoop be provided, but Jaswinder refuses, saying that was not included in her pricing.
When they look back at the contract they signed, they both see that there was no mention of the furnishing of games for lunch room/ games room. Paul is so furious that he wants to terminate the contract with Jaswinder before she finishes the rest of the work, even though Jaswinder has completed most of the employee work stations. Their contract says nothing about the degree of contract completion required for payment.
Neither Paul nor Jaswinder wants to go to court over this. But Jaswinder does want her money.
