Peer response at least one paragraph:

Sleep is composed of five different stages. You can tell what stage you are in by the patterns of brain wave activity that occurs during each stage. Within these five stages of sleep are two different phases, REM (active sleep), or non-REM (quiet sleep). The first four stages of sleep are non-REM, and the final stage is REM sleep.

Stage 1 sleep - This is the transition between wake and sleep. During this stage breathing and heartbeat slow down and muscles release tension.

Stage 2 sleep - During this stage of sleep the body is deeply relaxed. The heart and breathing continue to drop. Also, body temperatures drop during this stage of sleep. Quick bursts of high energy occur in your brain called sleep spindles.

Stage 3 and stage 4 sleep-This is the deepest phase of the sleep cycle. This is the phase that is most common to sleepwalk.

REM - This is the rapid eye movement stage. Heartbeat and breathing quicken and dreams may occur.

During REM sleep the brain processes and stores information, this is why REM sleep is the most critical stage for learning and memory.

I have a smart watch that tracks my sleep every night. On average I have about 2 hours of deep sleep, 4 hours of light sleep, and 2 hours of REM. My most active time that I sleep is right before I wake up for the day. This is the time that I usually dream.

I would say that I was positively impacted by researching this subject. It helped me understand why I am so tired all the time and how to get enough sleep.

I need one reference in APA format.
