Hospitals that thrive have a well-trained staff with an optimized schedule.To achieve such success, the hospital needed to optimize how it's staffed and how it schedules its employees which is broken down into two phases. Phase one is ensuring there is enough staff on hand at any given moment to deal with current and future patients (60). This ensures that if there's an influx of patients, there will be staff available to help. While phase two is to ensure proper scheduling that allows the hospital to run smoothly with the right type of trained employees on at a given time (60). Such as having certain types of doctors or nurses on call or other administrative employees needed at a certain time. This concept can be translated into other forms of business too. Phase one for other businesses involve having enough employees to handle their customers or clients of that the business deals with and are trained to deal with them. Phase two for other businesses involve ensuring the right type of employee (trained or educated with certain degrees or certificates) is scheduled when needed for current and future needs are met. For businesses, the ultimate goal is to ensure the businesses objectives are met while minimizing costs. Using the hospital discussed in this article it can be concluded that by having well-trained employees with schedules that optimizes the hospitals resources, the objectives of the hospital can be met and it'll minimize costs. Not only can well-trained staff help meet the objectives of a business, it can also help with employee retention.
In the article, "Based on Talent Management as Employee Performance optimization by Strengthening Employee Retention Aspect," it discusses how a "good talent management will improve employee performance to be optimal and consistent retention will increase optimal employee performance." This article discusses a distribution company that reinforces the value having great employees in management positions, which in turn gets employees under that management to stay and their performance to increase (Hermawati). In business, when the employees in a management position treat their subordinates well, it'll lead to employees staying in their position while also improving the subordinates overall performance. Another way to ensure employee retention is by aiming for job satisfaction for employees.
