The government has submitted a Bill on the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2022 and a Financial Note for discussion between the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government.

The theme of the fiscal policy of the 2022 Draft State Budget is Continuing Economic Recovery and Structural Reform. Economic conditions in 2022 will be influenced by various factors, including the successful handling of Covid-19, recovery in public consumption, implementation of structural reforms, and prospects for global economic growth.

Referring to the macroeconomic framework for 2022, the Government will formulate a fiscal strategy policy aimed at economic recovery and strengthening welfare so that it is inclusive in improving the quality of society in a fair and equitable manner. The state budget remains the main instrument that is the engine of economic recovery, recruiting reforms, and protecting the public from the dangers of Covid-19. On the other hand, fiscal consolidation will continue in 2022 to smooth out the normalization of the APBN deficit to return below 3% of GDP as mandated by Law 2/2020 by maintaining the momentum of economic recovery.
