People will take the opportunity to review the Netflix documentary called 'The Social Dilemma.' Upon reviewing the documentary, each group will discuss both roles as a marketer and an individual user and analyze data privacy in Canada
Learning Outcomes
• Explain the federal government and industry regulatory frameworks that govern all forms of traditional and digital advertising and marketing in Canada.
• Summarize the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and its implications for marketers and consumers in Canada.
Guidelines
Upon reviewing the Netflix documentary, people will analyze both roles of marketer and consumer. As a marketer role: You will look at how to further adapt to Canada's new reality of data privacy. You aim to gain consumer trust and gather consumer information within government laws like PIPEDA (https://www.priv.gc.ca/en/privacy-topics/privacylaws-in-canada/the-personal-information-protection-and-electronic-documents-actpipeda/). Therefore, determine tactics and techniques that allow you to gather additional consumer data while protecting that consumer data against marketer misuse and hackers.
As a consumer role: Your group will make a plan for yourselves and your families (think mom, dad, grandparents, and/or siblings) on the rules and the various technologies and methods to secure your personal mobile devices. This part of the project will be done in an informative infographic.
