Perimeter calculations provide a useful measure of how dissected (fragmented) a spatial pattern. The perimeter can be calculated by counting the edges (remember that grids are 100x100m). In this exercise the landscape boarder will be considered an edge.

1. Assuming the four-neighbour rule, calculate the Perimeter/Area ratios for patches of each cover type in the 1900 and 2000 landscape. Present your results in a simple Bar Graph and describe the key trends and changes that have occurred.
