Personal monitoring can establish the concentration of air impurities within the breathing zone and hence evaluate the exposure of the worker to these substances. This monitoring approach requires the sampler to be placed within the worker's breathing zone, i.e. the space within 30cm from the worker's nose and mouth (refer figure 1.1).
