Personal Reflection of Educational Experiences Paper:

Each student will conduct a thorough self-reflection of her or his own educational biography.

This analysis will be constructed as a paper that explores the formation and future next steps

regarding your personal beliefs about teaching, learning, and school based on your own

experiences as a student. The paper should include three main elements: (a) a report on your own

past educational experiences and an examination of the meaning of those experiences for you

(Who and what were some of the earliest influences on your worldview and perceptions about

school?; How did race, class, and gender fit into your K-12 experiences? What are some of the

strongest influences on your current perspectives on teaching and schooling? What experiences

led to changes in your outlook?); (b) critical reflections or questions about what was missing from

your school experiences and speculations about how alternative experiences might have shifted

your current point of view; and (c) integration of the readings as a means to support and

explain your experiences and alternative experiences that might have benefited you. The paper

should be 5-7 pages in length.
