Virtual Circuits

The purpose of this investigation is to use a PhET simulation to explore circuits (parallel and series) conductors, and insulators.

Please note the following;

• Connect items by overlapping the red circles at both ends of each item. Items are connected when the red circles turn black.
• You can delete connections (split junctions) or remove items at any time by clicking on them and either clicking the scissors or the trash icons.
• "Ohms" is the unit for resistance (anything that opposes the flow of charge in a circuit).
• An ammeter measures the amount of current (measured in amps) in a circuit. Use the ammeter tool (upper right of simulation) to determine the current at any point in the current.

Click on Labels and Values.Click and drag virtual wires and a battery to create a simple closed circuit. Your circuit should look like Figure 1.
