PHYS 2092 Lab 5: Faraday's Law and Lenz's Law ANSWER SHEET Student Name: Descriptive Report Please describe your observations below, as per the instructions: Introduction In this lab, I will investigate several Lenz's law implications in electromagnetic and multiple predictions of Faraday's law. 1 Coil system - N-S Magnet Report: magnetic field lines emerge from north pole and end into south pole of magnet outside it. if North pole is brought nearer to the coil, magnetic flux through the coil changes and the bulb grows. 1 Coil system - S-N Magnet Report: When the magnet falls downwards with its south pole downwards. The magnetic field lines passing through the coil in the downward direction increases. Since, the induced current opposes this, the upper side of the coil the nearer side becomes the same pole and when it is moved away it becomes the opposite pole.Polarity flipping Report: Polarity flipping: Even if we flip the polarity , if we move the magnetic towards the coil, it still repels the magnetic. Because the upper side of the coil will become the same pole depending upon the polarity of the magnet. Conclusions After your observations, how does Faraday's Law and Lenz's Law fit in this experiment? 1 Coil system - N-S Magnet Conclusion: The coil repels the magnet even if the magnet's south pole faces the coil is freely falling towards the coil 1 Coil system - S-N Magnet Conclusion: The coil repels the magnet even id the magnet's south pole faces the coulis freely falling towards the coil 2 Coil system - N-S Magnet Conclusion: The coil attracts the magnetic of the magnet's north pole faces the coil and is moving away from the coil. The coil attracts the magnetic if the magnet's north pole faces the coil and is moving away from the coil
