Pick a time in your life when you approached a project in a systems thinking way. How would systems thinking help you?

Response: I believe I approach most of my life in a very systems way of thinking. I'm a manager at the busiest Starbucks in my region. I have to approach everything with critical thinking, staying present, conscious of employees and customers as well as having to follow policies and standards. Most recently our store operations score has had a steady decline. I had to think of how to bridge the gap between our total score and it broken down by beverage taste, cleanliness, speed of service, food taste, and order accuracy. If I thought through cleanliness, which is perception of the customer and beverage taste, I can reevaluate how to organize my store to meet customer demands, ensure employees are prepping the correct amount and the beverage tastes great. I decided recently to label every cold bar (any drink made with ice that is not espresso) and each pitcher now has the item inside, and it will be the same item from here on out. Even after going to the dish room employees will know exactly what to put in the pitcher because the pitcher is labeled. This will make it so nothing else will taste like anything else that has been in the pitcher. Green tea will now not have a hint of strawberry flavor is just an example. Not only will our beverages taste better but now it has a very streamlined organized look that looks great! I believe this can also change the perception of cleanliness because it looks organized and leaves little room For error. Instead of employees guessing and wasting time making product we don't need they have the time to make sure their areas stay clean and organized.
