Platts Stamping is a company that produces various metal and mechanical devices for other factories in the area. The also retail some of their products for home use. One of their popular sale items is the Stamper 1000, a device that is useful for a number of instances and Platt's has also undertaken an aggressive advertising program to sell the item to home users. The power needed for the Stamper 1000 is very high but is still able to be used in homes with a separately sold adaptor called the Stamper Power Supplier. Platts clearly outlines in the instructions as well as packaging that the Stamper 1000 is safe for home usage and does mention on the packaging that the power adaptor, sold separately, would be needed for long term usage of the Stamper 1000 in the household. Kaitlan Kanner purchased a Platts Stamping Stamper 1000 for use in her home where she has a canning business. Kaitlan had gone to the Platts production plant and specifically told the Platts workers that she needed a Stamper product for her home business and was looking for expertise opinion on the matter. The Platts people assured her that the Stamper 1000 was the best. Kaitlan set up the Stamper 1000 and began to use the item in her house without the adaptor. The Stamper 1000 worked well for about one week before the use of excess power without the adaptor cased a huge fire in her home causing the destruction of her home business and her home.
