You will need to create own data.
1. Periot, T, is the time required for one full oscillation and its unit is the second (s).
One oscillation consists of a full swing to the right and a full swing to the left, until the bob returns to its initial position.
Rather than measuring the time necessary for just one oscillation, you'll measure the time it takes for 20 oscillations (we'll call this time t). This will reduce the measurement error.

2. You'll first construct a pendulum. A simple pendulum consists of a mass (called the bob) suspended from one end of a massless string (see the "Theory" file you downloaded earlier). This is the material you will need:
- 3 small, compact, but heavy objects (keys, washers, erasers, small pieces of candy, etc. are good; do NOT use long objects, such as pens or pencils; you can use 3 of the same kind of objects or 3 different objects)
- about 80 cm of sewing thread, dental floss, or a thin string
- 1 pen, pencil, or a popsicle stick
- 2 pieces of masking tape or Scotch tape (about 6 cm in length each)
- 1 ruler with centimeters or a measuring tape
- a flat surface (e.g. the top of a dining table or a kitchen counter)
The length of the pendulum, L, is measured from the pivot to the center of mass of the hanging object (see the figure below). The center of mass is a point at which you can balance the object and is approximately where most of the object's mass is concentrated.
