In an attempt to boost DC voltage, two students thought of using a transformer to accomplish such feat. The transformer has primary to secondary winding ratio of 1:5. In order to verify the output voltage, the secondary side of the transformer was connected to a resistive load, which potential drop would be measured across an oscilloscope. For the primary side, it was connected to a 9V battery and a switch, as shown in the figure below (Figure 1).
