please answer question 1 and 2
IV. PROJECt DESCRIPTION The objective of this project is to compare the performance of different types of reactors for the reversible isomerization of normal butane (nC4H10) to isobutane (iC4H10). Isobutane is a valuable product that finds wide applications as a gasoline additive. The reaction is carried out in the liquid phase under high pressure using trace amounts of a liquid catalyst. The reaction is reversible and can be represented as nC4H10iC4H10, with forward and reverse rate constants kf and kr, respectively. The kinetic parameters for the reaction are as follows: Tasks to be done: Consider the following operational parameters for the process: the feed composition comprises 0.82 mole fraction of n-butane and 0.18 mole fraction of i-pentane, with a total flow rate of 185kmol/h. The reaction is carried out isothermally at a temperature of 370 K and a pressure of 28bar. The volume of both reactors is 3.40m3 for the CSTR and PFR. Inlet concentration of n-butane is 6.56kmol/m3. Part 1 - Manual Calculation: 1. Calculate and compare the conversion of n-butane for the CSTR and PFR at isothermal conditions via manual calculation. [13 pts] 2. Calculate the time required in a batch reactor for the same volume of the CSTR in order to get the same conversion of the CSTR found in part 1. [7 pts] Step by Step Solution
