To learn how we can extract information about exoplanets from light curves Introduction In this project, you will make use of tools and techniques that astronomers use to view, analyze, and interpret light curve data about exoplanets. You will make use of topics and skills learned in-class, and apply them in new scenarios, and create new scenarios of your own. Materials and Tools . Your assigned light curve/figures (see instructions below) . The Exoplanet Simulator Kepler's 3rd Law Calculator . Calculator.net . Paper/pen/pencil and/or tablet Instructions PRELIMINARY SET-UP AND WORK 1. Find your assigned light curve. Each student has been assigned a randomly generated light curve. To find yours, go to the Project 4 - Investigating Exoplanets section of the course's eClass site, and find the link to the PDF entitled Student Light Curves. Click that link and search for your student number. Your student number will be at the top of the page that contains all the information you need to complete this project.
