Please answer the following questions 6, 7 and 8
I am doing a research study on a specific topic.
My topic is commercial transplants, also known as overseas organ
transplants.
People that do not want to wait on the organ transplant list or
are not eligible for an organ transplant list often go to 3rd world countries
like India, Pakistan and the Philippines to seek organ transplants from living
donors.
1.State your Research Topic,
Objective/Purpose, and Research Question(s).
Research Topic:Do
patients that receive overseas organ transplants experience more significant
health complications post-surgery than patients that receive organ transplants
in their home countries.
2. Who would be the
population for your study?
This study's population would be the set of all patients in
specifically the U.S who received overseas organ transplants.
The population is the whole group where I need to
take the sample for the study. In this case, I would need to select a sample
from a set of all patients in the U.S who received overseas organ transplants
to get relevant results.
3. What would constitute an
appropriate sample?
One good sample for this study would be a set of patients who received
only kidney organ transplants overseas. The sample is based on the sampling
unit; the sampling unit is a population selected for my study.
Example:The
units here are the different organs, and for the sample, I narrow it down and
select kidney transplants. Therefore, the sample would be those patients who
received kidney transplants.
4.What methods would be
appropriate for collecting data to answer this question/these questions?
Documented data: Primary & Secondary Survey: Questionnaire,
Phone interview, Personal Interview, Online survey
A possible way of collecting data is through documented sources
that can be either primary (data collectors recorded the data themselves) or
secondary (compiled data from other sources). However, using this method has
its limitations, especially if overseas transplants aren't thoroughly
documented and secretive. Another way can be through surveys using
questionnaires, online surveys, and interviews. As long as the respondents'
data aren't disclosed to the public, this could give a multitude of data.
5.Why are these methods
appropriate/effective?
These methods are effective as long as all possible questions
spanning the topic of study are covered and the privacy of respondents' data is
well-maintained.
6. List and label the dependent and independent variables.
7.State the null and alternate hypotheses.
8.Describe which quantitative methods could be used to address your research question(s). Describe any that could be applied.
