Describe the strengths and weaknesses of each proposal, and decide which you would be most likely to fund. e Project Delta: A gamma ray wavelength telescope, located in Antarctica. e Project Theta: A visible wavelength telescope, located on a university campus. Explain your reasoning. 2. Imagine that the Sun's mass increased. e What would this do the temperature in the Sun's interior? e What would this do to the rate of nuclear fusion? e How would the nuclear fusion affect the Sun's luminosity (total energy radiated)? You should explain your answers to all three of these. Note: Think through parts A, B, and C, in order. In other words, first work out the answer to A (use the balance of pressure and gravity in your answer), then use that to get the answer to B, then use that to get the answer to C. 3. Connecting magnitude and distance e Compare the stars in your constellation and use magnitudes to predict which star is farthest from our solar system. e Use magnitudes to calculate the distance to this star. e Hints: Remember that you need to compare the apparent and absolute magnitudes to use them in predicting distances. Also, the calculation is similar to the one we are using in the Measuring Distance constellation question so you can use the tutorial to help with this calculation
