MATH0003 END OF SECTION A SECTION B Instructions: Answer any three (3) questions from this section. Question 1 A. If quadrilateral ABCD is similar to quadrilateral PQRS, find the value of x. 15 P (4 marks) 20 15 45 B. i. Triangle ABC with vertices A(3,5), B(1, 1) and C(4, -2) is reflected in the y-axis. Calculate the position of the images of A, B and C. (3 marks) ii. AKLM has vertices K (1,-2), L(5,-3) and M (2,-7). Determine its image under the reflection in the x-axis followed by a reflection in the line y = x. (6 marks) iii. A parallelogram KLMN has vertices K (2, 1) , L(3,3), M (6,3) and N(5, 1). Determine the vertices of the image of the parallelogram under an anticlockwise rotation about the origin through an angle of 180. (4 marks) C. i. Kite KLMN is mapped onto kite K'L'M'N' with vertices K'(2, 6), L'(4, 8), M'(6,6) and N'(4,2) under the translation T = Determine the vertices of kite KLMN . (4 marks) ii. A glide reflection G consists of a translation T = followed by a reflection in the x-axis. Determine the image under G of A PQR with vertices P(2,3), Q(4,5), and R( 5, 2) . (3 marks) If the APOR was first reflected in the x-axis then translated through T =(4), would the image be the same? (1 mark) 17/08 The Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica Page 8
