  • Provide a general description of the publicly traded company you chose.

Target Corporation is an American general merchandise retail company established in 1962 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where it is headquartered. The company's product line includes furniture, groceries, electronics, home and pet products, baby and beauty products, clothes, sports, outdoor gear, office, and school supplies, shoes, toys, and sporting goods. Additionally, Target provides home delivery, picture printing services, rewards programs, clinics, and other amenities. It offers products under both owned and premium brands.

  • Describe the challenges facing the company in the chosen category of analysis.

Although Target Corp has faced numerous challenges with its company, the category I have chosen to elaborate on is the economic field. Less than two years after establishing the first of its 133 stores there, Target Corp. has chosen to abandon its expensive effort in the region. Midway through January, the store said that "after a thorough review," it had concluded that closing its operations in Canada would be the wisest course of action for the business. According to a company statement, Target assessed that the Canadian stores would not become profitable until "at least 2021" since the sales performance did not match expectations and there were still problems with the inventory assortment and delivery.
