PROCEDURE 1. PREPARATION OF SEAWATER SAMPLE. 1. Pipet 5.00 mL of the sample and dilute to volume in a 100-ml volumetric flask. 2. Mix thoroughly. II. INDICATOR BLANK TITRATION 1. Into a 250-ml Erlenmeyer flask, add about 60 - 65 mL distilled water. 2. Add 1.0 mL of 5% K2CrO4 solution. 3. Add 300mg powdered CaCO3. 4. Titrate with the standard AgNO3 solution with constant swirling until color changes from canary yellow to the first detectable orange yellow. III. SAMPLE TITRATION 1. Pipet 25 mL of the sample prepared and place into an Erlenmeyer flask. 2. Add approximately 30 mL of distilled water. 3. Test the solution with indicator paper to make sure that it is neutral or nearly neutral. 4. Add a pinch of NaHCO3 to neutralize any acid. 5. Add 1.0 mL of 5% K2CrO solution. 5. Titrate against a white background with the standard AgNO3 solution with constant vigorous swirling until the first appearance of a permanent orange yellow endpoint. 6.
