The increase in exports was attributed to higher demand from China and India, as well as the reopening of the global economy after the COVID-19 pandemic. Being one of the largest industry in Malaysia, palm oil has drawn criticism for its detrimental effects on the environment and society, including the extinction of species, deforestation, water pollution, and worker exploitation. In order to enhance their reputation and gain access to global markets, numerous palm oil enterprises have sought certification from a number of local and international organizations, including the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) and Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). Getting certified can be a difficult and complicated procedure. It necessitates alterations to the management and operations of plantation organizations, including the adoption of new technologies, better working conditions, and more environmentally friendly procedures. Some businesses choose for less expensive and more expedient options because this process can be costly and time- consuming. In order to obtain sustainable certifications, an effective and efficient method to improving plantation organization management is required. The use of digital transformation is a new strategy to deal with these problems. In order to facilitate and enhance the effectiveness of organizational processes, it entails the adoption of digital tools and technologies. Digital transformation can enable businesses to collect data on production, labor, and environmental performance in real-time, allowing for more precise and efficient management in the context of palm oil plantation management. Additionally, it can aid in lowering operational expenses and enhancing operational effectiveness. There is, however, a dearth of data on the efficacy of digital transformation in this setting, notably regarding the moderating impact of employee digital literacy. In order to obtain palm oil sustainability certifications in Malaysia, this research intends to better understand how digital transformation affects palm oil plantation organization management efficiency as well as the moderating role that staff digital literacy has in this effectiveness. The theoretical basis for the research will be a Resource-Based View (RBV) of the firm. The study will use a quantitative method approach and include case studies of palm oil plantations that have embraced digital transformation and a survey of plantation managers and workers. Regression analysis and descriptive statistics will be used to analyze the data. The research is anticipated to yield the following results: 1) Identification of critical variables influencing the adoption of digital transformation in palm oil plantation organization management; 2) Evaluation of the efficiency of digital transformation in enhancing certification acquisition; 3) Identification of the moderating impact of employee digital literacy on this efficiency. The results of this study will help establish methods to increase the sustainability of Malaysia's palm oil business and perhaps that of other nations with comparable industries. It will offer insightful information on how management of palm oil plantation organizations will be impacted by digital transformation, as well as the part that employee digital literacy plays in this.
