He spent lavishly, including purchasing a home with United Way funds, and siphoned funds from the nonprofit, directing them to another company for his young mistress. The thirty- three members of the board of directors, a who's who of America's corporate and labor leaders, were not charged with any crimes, although federal prosecutors said they were unduly respectful of Aramony.
