QUESTION 2 (30 marks; 45 minutes) This question comprises of two independent parts. PART A (10 marks; 15 minutes) #Delivery Lid ('Delivery") has a 31 March year-end. On 1 June 20.18, the company acquired a new Tata Ace delivery truck. The following costs were incurred: R Purchase price paid 300 000 Initial delivery and handling costs 7 500 Installation and assembly of the specialised delivery unit at the back 15 000 of the truck. Advertising and promotional costs to promote the new delivery 3 000 method Delivery estimates that the truck has a useful life of (1 000 000) 1m kilometres and a residual value of R50 000. At 31 March 20.19, the truck had an odometer reading of 150 000 km, and at 31 March 20.20 a reading of 326 000 km. Ignore all taxes QUESTION 2 PART A: REQUIRED Marks (a) Explain how the total initial cost of the truck should be calculated in the records of Delivery. Give reasons for the inclusion or exclusion of an item. 4 Refer to amounts if possible. Explain how the depreciation on the truck for the year ended 31 March 20.19 and 20.20 should be calculated in the records of 5 Delivery. Refer to amounts and kilometres in your discussion.
