As an accountant, both bean counting and shady dealing seem like harsh words to describe one of the most vital departments in any organization.Ethically, I do not think that any accountants should be shady dealers, but I am not naive to the fact that it does happen.Of those two descriptions, I would say that accountants are "bean counters".We count and document the 'beans' to ensure accuracy. One of their main jobs is to support the business with any financial decision that needs to be made.In order to keep the business running, accountants track income and expenditures as well as provide financial information which can be used to make business decisions.

Accounting is a very important part of the operations of an organization.Accounting supports everything that a company does.An effective and accurate accounting department adds substantial value to an organization.Having accurate records can allow managers to make better decisions that could lead to more profitability.
