In order to be able to keep up with the constant changing business environment, a firm must study and understand their internal organization. The internal organization consist of the different components that make up the structure of the organization to help make decisions and strategy. By studying and understanding the internal organization, a company can limit conflict and politics when making decisions. Limiting conflict and politics within the internal organization will lead to a more efficient and effective company. Although the process of studying and understanding internal organization can be difficult, if done correctly the business will earn above average returns. It is the managers responsibility to help a firm earn above average return by pursuing and managing resources and assets. The resources, assets, and core competencies need to be used to their full potential to earn above average returns.
