Heat transport phenomena //

Liquefied gases are sometimes stored in well-insulated spherical con-tainers. Consider a tank with the inner radius of R0 = 1 m and outer radius R1 = 1.25 m. The temperatures at the inner and outer wall are fixed at T0 = 183C and T1 = 0C, respectively.

Calculate the heat flow from the environment to the storage tank and estimate the rate of evaporation of liquid oxygen.

The thermal conductivity of the tank wall is 1.4 103 W/m/K. The heat of vaporization of oxygen is 214 kJ/kg. The whole surface area of the tank wall is available for heat transfer. Assume steady state.
