A previousfirst-line manager used to be very team-oriented and had greatsoft and human skills, working well with other people to get things done. This manager was so effective that she was relocated to another location that needed her help. Abehavioral viewpoint was incredibly effective at managing a restaurant staff of servers, bartenders, barbacks, bussers, and cooks. A new manager was transferred into the restaurant on a short notice and everyone had a meeting to get oriented with the new managerial shift. This new manager was very authoritative and spoke in a demeaning tone at employees, like we were tools she can use and discard at any time. Expecting us to drop everything we were doing at the moment, even if we were helping a guest, to come listen and do exactly what she wanted right here and now. She was rude and demanding of workers. She hurt our feelings and made others and myself cry. This shift in management was a huge adjustment for all the non-managerial employees and caused a huge uproar within the staff. Many people had negative things to say about the new manager and almost half the people quit in the coming weeks. I, myself, quit at a later date but right after I quit I heard from my previous co-workers that the new manager had been fired due to the result of her actions and behavior.
